You are the director of your story

I came across some powerful words from Stefflon Don on Instagram. I don’t follow her, nor do I know much about her, but her calm advice inspired me to write this short blog.

You are the director, the creator, and the writer of your story. You literally could do whatever you want. And it’s just for you to sitdown and navigate where you wanna go, and you’ll get there.

Reflections

I reflected on my life after I heard her. I believe what I felt after that is true for most of us. Despite so many factors that are not in our control in the journey of our lives, we do make choices and decisions that lead us to where we are at today.

Ever since I started my creative journey, I have gone through so many interesting paths that make me who I am. Sometimes I made a plan to do what I believe would make me happy and creative, and sometimes I did things without much deliberation. As I have grown older, I am now doing things in a much more organised fashion, but I still do say yes to calls for adventure and make decisions in the spur of the moment. I am slowly trying to lead my way into being a full-time creator. Whether my story is an impressive one, or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s my story and I have put my heart and soul into it. I am directing it, I have the vision and I am acting on my plan one video, one blog, one vlog, one film, one short video, and one photo at a time. When will I reach my goal? To be honest, I don’t know. Maybe never? However, I am enjoying this journey despite getting frustrated with my nine-to-five job. I believe that I will get there one day, and I know for sure that if I do, I will aim higher, learn, create, repeat, improve, share, grow and keep moving forward. I just don’t want to not have a story. I leave you with a question, “do you have a story that you want to direct, create and write?”. If your answer is yes, my next question is, “What are you waiting for?”. If your answer is no, my question is, “When will you begin that long journey into yourself?”.

How do you approach your journey? I would love to hear your opinion, drop a comment below.

Peace.
